Irish Wheelchair Association - Fundraiser

Irish Wheelchair Association is proud to announce its first Charity Cycle which will take place on 1st August 2013. The event will begin in the Phoenix Park and cyclists of all abilities will make the 200k journey towards Eyre Square, Galway. The Association is hoping that approximately 50 cyclists will sign up for the event and help support the services Irish Wheelchair Association provides to people with disabilities throughout Ireland.

Cyclists have the choice of registering for the event as an individual or as a team of three. The cycle is open to beginners, intermediate and advance cyclists. Irish Wheelchair Association has a presence in every county in Ireland, so why not join our dedicated team and support people with disabilities in your local area, by taking part in the first event of its kind for the Association. As an incentive Irish Wheelchair Association are offering a discounted gym membership to all those participating.


  • Individual Entry: €60 + min €200 sponsorship
  • Team of Three: €60 each + min €500 sponsorship

Cost Includes:

Overnight accommodation including BBQ
Goodie Bag including t-shirt for each cyclist
Cycle support vehicles and mechanic
Discounted gym membership to all participants
Training spin sessions organised

About the Irish Wheelchair Association

The Irish Wheelchair Association is a National organisation dedicated to the achievement of full social, economic and educational integration of people with disability as equal, independent and participative members of the community.

The Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) was founded in 1960 by a small group of wheelchair users committed to improving the lives of people with physical disabilities in Ireland.

IWA has gone on to become an important provider of quality services to people with limited mobility throughout the country.

Today, the association is made up of a vibrant network of 20,000 members and 2,000 staff, as well as many dedicated volunteers.

Together the IWA works to achieve greater independence, freedom and choice for people living with a disability.

Services include: Assisted Living Service; Resource and Outreach Centres; Holiday centres; Motoring and Transport; Youth Service; Independent Living Apartments; Advocacy; Sport.
