Valeview Shankill Schoolboys FC

Valeview Shankill Schoolboys FC is a Dublin soccer football club that has its origins in the Shankill Youth Club which was formed back in 1966 by Bertie Messitt. Bertie was an Olympian sports athlete who held 16 Irish national records.

The football club provides facilities for children in Shankill and the surrounding areas to play football in a safe and friendly environment. Players range from five and six year olds in the Shankill Panthers up to the under 15s and 16s in the Dublin and District Schoolboys League.

Valeview Shankill Schoolboys has over 180 registered football players and 13 teams from under 7s to under 18s. The club has three soccer pitches and the clubhouse is in Shanganagh Park, Co. Dublin. The Team clubhouse was officially opened in 2006.

Valeview Shankill Schoolboys FC has produced and nurtured a number of very fine footballers. Ian Morris who played for Leeds United and Scunthorpe United also captained the the Ireland under 21 soccer team. Darren Quigley, another Shankill native, played for UCD and Manchester City. He was also the goalkeeper for the Ireland B soccer team. Yet another Shankill lad played for St Patrick's Athletic in the Eircom League of Ireland.

Take the M50 South on to the M11. Keep left at the first exit which is sign-posted for North Bray / Shankill at the junction R837. Proceed to the next roundabout and take the first exit onto the Dublin Road (sign posted for Shankill). Proceed approximately one half mile then turn right at Shanganagh Park. Valeview Shankill Schoolboys Clubhouse is located at the end of this road where the pitches are also. Car parking is available.
