Finglas is a suburb
of north Dublin 11. It is bordered by Cabra,
Ballymun and Glasnevin.
Finglas can be accessed via the M50 using exit junction 5 at the
N2 intersection.
The name Finglas is
derived from the Irish Fionn ghlas which means clear stream
which runs through the area. Finglas is associated with the patron
saint of Kilkenny
and the local schools and church are called St Canice's.
The area has produced
a number of very good footballers including Ronnie Whelan, Frank
Stapleton, and Stephen Kelly who have all represented the Republic
