Introduction to the Football Coaching Association of Ireland (FCAI)
The Football Coaching Association of Ireland or FCAI was established in June 2009 to enhance the overall standards of football coaching in Irish soccer. To achieve this objective the The FCAI hosts regular educational coaching workshops and clinics throughout the island Ireland.

Founders of the Football Coaching Association of Ireland
Aaron Callaghan is a football club consultant involved in developing coaching structures. He is a former player, coach, and manager and has experience in the English League, the Irish League and the League of Ireland. Amongst other football clubs, Aaron has played for Stoke City, Crewe Alexandra, Oldham Athletic, Preston North End, Shelbourne, St Patrick's Athletic, Crusaders, Glenavon, and Dundalk. Aaron has played for the Republic of Ireland Under 21's and was appointed as the Irish Under 14's international coach for two years in 1997.
During his playing career Aaron has won the the FAI Cup with Dundalk, two Irish League titles with Crusaders, and an FAI League Cup winners medal with Shelbourne. He has also won an English Second Division Championship with Oldham Athletic and won promotion with Crewe Alexandra.
Aaron was also the player / manager with Crusaders and in 2000 the club qualified for Europe in his first season as a football manager. He was also the Athlone Town manager and he was the coach at Longford Town from 2002 until the end of the 2006 season. Aaron was appointed as the Longford Town FC manager in succession to Alan Mathews in December 2007.
Aaron was one of the first Irish soccer coaches to obtain the UEFA Pro Licence. He also holds a degree in sports management, a certificate in injury management & fitness in sport from University College Dublin, and has a supervisory management diploma from the National College of Ireland. Aaron is currently the first team coach at UCD and he acts as a coach education tutor for the Football Association of Ireland.
Colin Telford is also a football club consultant involved in the development coaching structures and techniques. He is an ex-professional footballer having been on the books with Manchester United, Raith Rovers and Glentoran FC. Colin also won 22 youth international caps. At the young age of just 26 Colin's playing career was cut short due to a persistent back injury. This did not end his involvement with soccer and he coached in North America while studying youth development. Colin is a holder of a UEFA A coaching badge.
Ciaran is responsible for all FCAI coaching workshop event creation and management. It also Ciaran's role to promote all FCAI events throughout the island of Ireland. Ciaran McKenna is a keen amateur footballer and is a seasoned event management professional.
Membership of the Football Coaching Association of Ireland
Membership of the FCAI permits exclusive access to the private members area of the FCAI website that includes soccer training session plans, coaching advice, guidance on nutrition, presentations and interviews from all of the FCAI coaches and trainers that have provided FCAI coaching clinics in the past. FCAI members will also receive advance notice of forthcoming events in addition to discounts on selected Irish soccer coaching events.
