Albert Rovers FC |
Albert Rovers FC is a County Cork soccer club competing in the Cork Athletic Union League. The club football pitch is located at the Douglas Community School on Clermont Avenue. In 1976 the football club took the place of Cork Hibernians in the League of Ireland and finished second last in that year. In the past Albert Rovers has been known as Cork Alberts, Cork Albert FC and Cork United. The soccer club won the Munster Senior Cup in 1950 and the FAI Intermediate Cup twice in 1954 and 1959. Former English soccer international Bobby Tambling played 88 matches, scoring 22 goals, for the football club in the late 1970’s. |
