Carrigtwohill United FC |
| Carrigtwohill United FC is a County Cork soccer club that compete football in the Cork Athletic Union League and the Cork Schoolboys League. The club has football pitches at Ballyadam and at Slatty Park.
Formed in the early 1980s the club early success. In 1984 united won the Cork AUL Division 3 league and the Saxone Cup. In the same year Carrigtwohill were the losing finalist the County Cup. In 1985 the club finished in second place in the Cork AUL Division 2 league. Some time after this Carrigtwohill United was dissolved for a number of years. The club was re-established in the early 1990s and were runners-up in Cork AUL Division 3B in 1993. Once again the club fell into dis-use but was reestablished for a second tine in 2001. Carrig had almost instant success by winning the Cork AUL Division 3B league. In 2002 the football club won promotion to Division 1 was achieved and finished up as runners-up in the first season in that division. The club then formed its’ schoolboy section with under-10s and under-11s teams. In the 2005-06 season Carrigtwohill United entered a second side into Cork AUL Div 3B. Ballyadam Soccer Pitch Traveling from Cork City proceed along the main Cork to Waterford road (N25). Take the second exit road towards Carrigtwohill. Take a right at the main street at Costcutter’s. Proceed along for about after 200 metres and take the left hand turn before the Texaco petrol station. After 1.5k approx. on the brow of a hill, the entrance to Ballyadam pitch is on the right.Slatty Park Soccer Pitch Traveling from Cork City proceed along the main Cork to Waterford road (N25). Take the first exit road towards Carrigtwohill. At the roundabout take the exit for Cobh. Take the first left that leads to Millipore before the bridge. Do NOT take the entrance for Millpore instead proceed for another 200 metres and on the left is the entrance to Slatty Park football pitch. |
