The match was the final match in the Irish preparations for the Euro 2016 finals in France. Immediately after the match Irish football manager, Martin O’Neill, named his 23 man Euro 2016 squad. Belarus spoiled the send off for the home team by winning the match by two goals to one. Belarus took the lead against the run of play after 20 minutes through Mikhail Gordeichuk. The Belarussians extended their lead midway through the second half when Maksim Volodko fired home. Burnley full back Stephen Ward pulled one back for the Irish as he smashed the ball home from about 12 yards.
