Dundalk FC Introduction

Dundalk FC is a League of Ireland soccer football club based in Dundalk, County Louth. The club was formed in 1903 and was known as Dundalk GNR (Great Nothern Railway) at that time. In 1930 the club assumed its’ current name. The football club played at the Athletic Grounds from 1903 until 1936. Thereafter Oriel Park has been the home of Dundalk FC.

The Dundalk club has been League of Ireland champion on nine separate occasions. The first win came in the 1932/33 football season when the winning margin was five points over second-placed Shamrock Rovers. It was a further 30 years before Dundalk FC won the league again. The club won the league twice in each of the 1970’s, 1980’s and the 1990’s. The victory in the 1994/95 season was that last time that a Dundalk captain raised the League trophy.
