Republic of Ireland Football Team ResultsOutlined below is a full list of all international football matches played by Ireland at senior level. The first international representative soccer match played by, what we now know as, the Republic of Ireland was on the 28th May 1924 in Paris, France in the Olympic soccer tournament. The Irish won their first international football match against Bulgaria 1-0. The match was played in Colombes in Paris in front of a mere 1,500 fans. The winning goal scored was by Paddy Duncan of St James Gate. The Dublin club supplied three members of the Irish team that took to the field that day. The Irish team was: Paddy O’Reilly (Athlone Town), Bertie Kerr (Bohemians), Jack McCarthy (Bohemians), John Joe Dykes – Captain (Athlone Town), Ernie McKay (St James Gate), Tommy Muldoon (Athlone Town), Mickey Farrell (St James Gate), Dinny Hannon (Athlone Town), Paddy Duncan (St James Gate), Joe Kendrick (Brooklyn), Johnny Murray (Bohemians).
