Greencastle FC |
| Greencastle FC is a County Donegal soccer club competing in the Inishowen Football League. Soccer has been played in Greencastle since the early 1900’s with games being played in the early years at Milltown. Following a significant break organised football returned to the area in the guise of local club Blue Peters, named after the area in which the team played i.e. St. Peter’s Point. Following another hiatus of 14 years Thomas Lake founded Greencastle FC in 1986 and entered the Inishowen League. At this time the club played its soccer off the Poundtown Road. In 1994 Greencastle, with financial aid from the FAS scheme, purchased a site at Ballybrack and began development work in 1995 to erect club house, a regular playing pitch and an underage pitch. Recent developments in the club’s history has been the construction of three astro turf pitches, which provide modern training facilities for the needs of all at the club. |
