United’s manager Alex Ferguson brought Mulryne across to Old Trafford as sixteen year old in 1994. He began playing for the Manchester United youth team and was a member of the team that won the 1995 FA Youth Cup. Philip Mulryne & Manchester UnitedPhilip Mulryne made his Manchester United debut on 14 October 1997 against Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the third round of the League Cup. the Reds lost the tie 2-0. He also came on as a substitute in the FA Cup fourth round in a 5-1 win at Old Trafford in January 1998. Mulryne made his only Premier League appearance in May that year in a 0-2 away win against Barnsley at Oakwell. His only other two appearances for United were in the League Cup in the 1998/99 season. Phil Mulryne’s last appearance for Manchester United was on 11 November 1998 against Nottingham Forest. It was the fourth round of the League Cup and United won 2-1 courtesy of two goals from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Mulryne was sold by Ferguson in February 1999 to Norwich City for a fee of £500,000.
