Mick McCarthy – Record as Ireland Manager when Roy Keane Played

It is not surprising to discover that that the Republic of Ireland performed much better when Roy Keane was in the team. The Irish won a higher per centage of matches and had a lower loss ratio with the Irish captain on the soccer pitch. Ireland recorded a very impressive win ratio, in excess of 70%, during 2001 when the majority of the qualifiers for the 2002 World Cup were played. The only defeat that the Irish suffered in 2001 was in the Iran second leg playoff in Tehran – which Roy Keane missed.
