Blessington FC |
| Blessington FC is a Wicklow soccer football club founded in 1968. The club recently opened its’ own dedicated footballing facilities in Crosschapel, about two miles from Blessington on the Dublin side. The Clubs’ first ever league match was played against Court Laundry at home. It took a number of years before Blessington had any meaningful success in playing terms. The club’s first significant football success was in the 1979/80 season when the club won division 3 of the Sunday league. During the 2002/2003 season the Sunday senior team were second in their league and they also won two cup finals at the Athletic Union League headquarters.
Since 1981 the schoolboys’ section of the soccer club has registered a number of successes on the field of play. The underage teams play their matches at the Community College in Blessington Town. It is intended to eventually move all of the eleven-a-side underage teams to the Crosschapel complex. Blessington FC also runs a soccer nursery on Sunday mornings at the Community College. This is for five to eight year olds. |

Crosschapel, Blessington, County Wicklow Senior teams, ladies football team and some Under 15s and Under 16s matchesComing from Dublin on the N81 proceeding towards Blessington at 2 miles approx. before reaching Blessington town turn right at the Grotto or Religious Statue. Head up the hill past the church for about 600 metres. The entrance to the pitches is on the left.Community College Under 7s to Under 14s matches and also some Under 15s and Under 16s teams Coming from Dublin on the N81 to Blessington drive through the town and follow the R410 – signposted for Naas & Punchestown. The Community College is about 500 metres situated on the right-hand side. |
